The Back In Stock Notification extension allows customers to subscribe to alerts about unavailable items when they are back in stock. Once a product becomes available, subscribers receive an automatic email notification with a direct link to the product page. The feature is configured in the back-office and integrates with the shopping list, allowing customer users to subscribe to items they’ve already expressed interest in.
Key Features & Benefits
Back-Office Configuration: A new system configuration setting, Back In Stock Notifications, is added under System > Configuration > Commerce > Inventory > Notifications in the back-office that activates the feature.
Customer Subscription for Restock Alerts: Enables customer users to subscribe/unsubscribe for notifications about specific out-of-stock products directly from the Shopping List page by clicking the bell icon.
Automated Email Notifications: Sends an alert with a product link as soon as the item is restocked, encouraging quick customer action and purchase.
Future Expansion: Built with extensibility in mind—future enhancements may include support for product listing pages (PLPs), product detail pages (PDPs), and checkout grids.
