The Barcode Scanner extension enables fast and accurate product search by allowing users to scan barcodes using either a mobile device camera or a physical scanner. Integrated with the Quick Order Form, it automatically identifies and adds products to the order based on the scanned data, minimizing manual entry and input errors.
Key Features & Benefits
New System Configuration Options: Provides settings to enable or disable barcode scanning, barcode autocomplete, and Quick Order Form caching in the system configuration settings.
Access Control: Adds the ACL capability, named Enable barcode scanning, under the Catalog category for managing user access to barcode scanning features.
Scanning Options: Allows scanning via mobile camera or physical barcode scanner.
Quick Order Form Integration: Adds a Barcode button to the Quick Order Form that activates the scanner (mobile users are prompted for camera access).
Barcode-Based Autocomplete: Enables automatic product suggestions based on scanned codes and automatically pastes scanned barcodes into product rows.
Persistent Scans: Keeps scanned data after page reloads when caching is enabled (by default).
